Singing in front of the family might seem a million miles away from signing multi-million dollar record contracts, but for rising soul superstar, Paulini, the trip is going pretty fast! Since going platinum with her ARIA No.1 album of soul covers, One Determined Heart, she's turned her hand to own songs on forthcoming album Superwoman AND scored a nomination for Best Female Artist at this year's Urban Music Awards!

Which urban music artists have had the biggest influence on your work?
The classic soul artists Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight. And Whitney & Mariah of course.

Who's coming out with the most exciting sound on the scene right now?
I am just loving everything that Timbaland and Dallas Austin are touching. Hilltop Hoods are rockin it here as well!

Which other urban artist would you most like to work with and why?
Mary J or Beyonce would be a dream come true for me - they just continuously raise the bar and have perfected their craft - they command attention vocally on stage and in the studio.

Just how un-urban is Keith Urban?
I love Keith - think he's very cool. Love, Pain & the whole crazy World Tour looks amazing too!

Do you consciously write 'urban music' or is it just your natural sound?
Urban/soul music comes naturally to me i guess - i just always try to sing from a pure place, from the heart.

What's more important, awards voted for by the public or big money prizes?!
The public, absolutely. Without them, i wouldn't be able to do what i most love in this world as a living, sing! I feel truly blessed!

How do you think the Australian urban scene compares with the UK or the USA?
Music to me is universal. I am proud to be amidst the exciting Australian music scene surrounded by so many AMAZING Australian/local talents that i think are comparable to the best of them!

What do you reckon's hot on the web right now?
I am obsessed with youtube and myspace sites, i can sit there for hours and get lost in discovery and the digital land of sound.

When's the last time you did something for the first time?
I had traditional cornbread at a New Orleans-esque restaurant in Perth. It was the bomb and i am addicted for life!
