International Rules: It's finally back

Ya, here it is. It's back after a year off and I'm really looking forward to seeing Ireland take on Australia in the International Rules on tonight.

The first game of the two-match series is being played at Subiaco in Perth, and the second, Friday week at the M.C.G.

Traditionally between these two teams there has being a lot of confrontations and fights. ...

Grand Final blues: Cat's by a midfield

It's almost the big day in September and I so wish I was a part of it.

The whole week is a fantastic build-up from having the crowds watch you train to the 100,000 people that turn out for the grand final parade on Friday. It truly is a fantastic experience and I wish I was experiencing it this week like the Hawks and the Cats will.

A devastating exit

Our season is over and it was a devastating loss against the Bulldogs considering we started so well and had a good first half but couldn't really put scoreboard pressure on them. If we had done this early in the game it could have been a different story but it just wasn't to be and they came out in the second half and ran over the top of us. ...

A great result

A great result for us in a cut throat final and a game where we got back to playing for each other and as a really strong unit. The second half against North was probably our best for the year and what a good time to produce it. We were just a goal behind at half time and Roosey asked us to lift our intensity and take hold of the game and take it on and he said we would win easily if we did and that's exactly what we did. ...

A lot of players would be feeling under the weather this week after the finish of their season and a few big nights out I'm sure. It was an eventful weekend in footy with Buddy Franklin kicking his 100th goal for the season and Fevola just missing out on 99. Even bigger was the emergence of St. Kilda to finish in fourth and get a double chance in the finals.

Our own weekend was very good we played well from the word go and had an even contribution from everyone on the field. ...

It was a very poor performance last weekend against the Pies and a game where i personally thought we would stand up and be counted but what did happen was that we were blown out of the water in the first 20 minutes of the game and we couldn't get back into it after that. As a group we really have to have a look at ourselves and find out whether we really want to be footballers at the top level. If we do it's about time we started playing like that. ...

Too many individuals

We were very disappointed with our effort at the weekend against the in-form team of the competition. We knew going into the game that we needed four quarters of consistent effort and we didn't get that, we played in patches and put it up to Geelong but not for long enough. They are a fantastic team and have an even contribution right throughout the team and are very mature and have a lot of experience among that group. ...

A fantastic result against Fremantle where we had done everything we could just to get the result we needed. We changed a lot of things during the week to try and get us up and get the result we wanted. It wasn't looking too good for us with 10 minutes to go when we were three goals down and they were coming hard, but to our credit we fought back and got over the line by four points in what was a great finish and a great win for Jarrad McVeigh in his 100th game for the club. ...

It was a step in the right direction for us at the weekend but we've still with a lot of work to do. We have had a tough month of football and have not played very well but I got the feeling we turned things around last weekend against the Dogs and our destiny is in our own hands as we come to the conclusion of the season with four games remaining. ...

A very disappointing game for us at the weekend against Adelaide. There was so much to play for and we just never turned up or gave ourselves any chance of winning. You might say it was a one-off but to be fair we have had a very bad month of footy. Yes we beat Carlton but it took a massive effort in the second half to turn that around and the two games prior against the Magpies and the Hawks were very bad too. ...
