He backs her into the kitchen, where she blinds him with a shot of bug spray and crawls out the window. Michael meets up with Sucre in the woods. They discuss how they're going to split the money, but when Sucre opens the backpack it's filled with magazines. A smiling T-Bag drives down the road in a pickup truck with the backpack full of money. Lincoln watches LJ talk to a Company man, and walk away. Michael and Sucre fume over T-Bag's double-cross until they hear (via Ann's radio) that the police are closing in, and have all the roads blocked. Mahone reports to IA. He's angry when he discovers that an agent named Sullens has pulled him off the case for questioning. Bellick and Geary drag themselves into a bar. He calls his mother to come pick them up. When they hear on the TV that the escapees were in Tooele, Bellick asks his mom to wire him money instead.
Sara gets on a payphone and calls Bruce, a friend of her father. She didn't want to use her cell in case they're tracking it. She reiterates that the Governor didn't commit suicide, and brings up the Burrows case. Bruce says he'll send someone to her, and she gives her location. Lincoln pawns Jeanette's golf clubs for eighty dollars and a cooler. Michael tells Sucre they have to abandon the motorcycle to cross the river. Sucre grudgingly complies. While crossing a log Sucre falls off, and gets his foot caught under it. Michael can't budge the log. Sara cleans her bleeding arm as a woman passes her to use the payphone. A black van pulls up, and a gunman sprays the woman with bullets. Sara tries to help her but she dies. Sara notices the woman's wallet on the ground. Michael hears a loud horn, and tells Sucre that it's from the dam. Soon water will fill the river and move the log, freeing Sucre before he drowns. Sullens interrogates Mahone about shooting Tweener. Kellerman tells Kim that LJ will lead them to Lincoln, and Sara will lead them to Michael. He also says that maybe the numbers on the birds are not phone numbers. A vagrant asks LJ for spare change. When LJ brushes him off, he punches LJ and a fight ensues. Sara gets a call from Bruce, and figures out that he set her up. She disconnects, and pulls the battery from her phone. As she looks at her phone she realizes the numbers on the pad correspond to letters.
LJ sits in the hospital exam room, all stitched up. Lincoln walks in. It's a touching reunion. In the hall a couple of cops lead the vagrant away. The agents overhear him say, "Some dude gave me fifty bucks to give a kid a beatdown." The agents realize it was a set-up by Lincoln, and they rush into LJ's room... too late: father and son are gone. Bellick and Geary arrive at Jeanette's house. Bellick flashes a badge, and she relates what happened. Now Bellick knows the escapees have split up, and that T-Bag probably has the money. They can guess where he's going: his ex's house. Both Kellerman and Sara try to decipher Michael's code. The water is rising, and only Michael is keeping Sucre from drowning. He tells Michael to leave him. Michael notices a length of rope, and devises a makeshift pulley system attached to the log at one end and the bike at the other. He drives the motorcycle into the river, leaping it over Sucre's head. The force lifts the log, and frees Sucre. The waterlogged men race off ahead of the closing dogs.
Kellerman and Sara figure out the word "rendezvous." Michael purchases a used car while Sucre calls Petey to apologize about his bike. Petey has even bigger news: "Maricruz said 'I don't." Sucre shares the good news with Michael, and says he has to go to her. Michael understands, and buys another car for Sucre. Sara's still working on the message, but realizes she left the last bird at her apartment. At her apartment Kellerman tells a couple agents to clean up. He spots the envelop with the third bird in, and takes it. Sullens rattles off Mahone's tragic past but Mahone isn't talking. They're interrupted by a call for Sullens. As soon as the call ends, he lets Mahone go. Mahone is picked up by a man in a car: Kellerman. Kellerman shows him the paper bird, and says it's a code for a rendezvous location for Michael, but they can't break it. We discover Mahone's been hired by the Company. He complains, and wonders why they took so long to get him out. Kellerman rebukes him: "You don't ask any questions about us, maybe we'll continue to make sure no one asks questions about you; Are. We. Clear?"... silence; and finally Mahone solemnly responds: "They all die."
