Hi Everyone, I'm a novice at 'blogging', so please bear with me.

There's been plenty to grab the sports fans attention in the last few weeks. Footy season is upon us. Can't wait.

There's already been drama.

In Brisbane, Wayne Bennett's decision to quit at the end of the season stunned everyone. Not great if you're a reporter covering the story. Bennett refuses to speak about his decision and he told me he has no intention of elaborating on his reasons. Suffice to say he'll be asked about it at his first media Conference and we'll get the usual array of "No Comments".

Plenty of comment about the League's Top 100 players. Darren Lockyer is the only player still running around to be named in the elite list. That's hard to cop even Shane Webcke said to me 'Gorden Tallis, just for the inspiration he provided on the field, should've been there'.

And they're blowing up big time in the North with Johnathan Thurston missing out. I agree with them but I'm certain his best days are still ahead.

Expect plenty of good Lions coverage on 7News throughout the year. Jim Wilson has seen the light and moved his family to the Sunshine State and he'll be doing all our previews from the Lions Den.

Queensland Roar had an excellent season and a second Brisbane team in the Gold Coast Galaxy will be announced this week.
