Queensland Nationals leader Lawrence Springborg has spent seven years trying to woo his Liberal coalition partner into a political marriage.

Just when he thought he was going to get his bride up the aisle along comes the newly installed Liberal President Mal Brough.

Others might recall Mr Brough when he was a Howard Government minister.

Anna Bligh had just finished a media conference during which she was asked about Opposition revelations that Aboriginal girls, some as young as 12, in the Central Queensland Woorabinda community were being given long lasting contraceptives. ...

Rightio, with the council elections out of the way it's full steam ahead with a merger between the Liberal Party and the Nationals in Queensland.

There's plenty of work to be done.

They've got to sort of all manner of things... like stationary, branding. That's very important because it will go on business cards, campaign posters, telly ads, goodness me it might be bigger than we thought. ...

Right, hands up anyone in Queensland politics who HAS NOT tried marijuana. Not you Lawrence everyone knows that the only numbers you've done are in the Nationals' party-room. Same goes for you Mark McArdle, the only thing straighter is a ruler.
