Reading Hannah Jones' story on page 34 moved me so much. This brave little girl has decided to not have what could be a life-saving operation. The 13-year-old says of the surgery: 'There's a chance I may be well and there's a chance I may not be as well as I could be'. What surprised me, and probably you, was she rationally evaluated the reality of her future – what it will mean for her to endure another operation, or indeed refute it. Her wisdom is extraordinary. I'm sure many of you, like me, thought about her parents' feelings and wonder if they should have intervened. It really is a difficult and unenviable situation. What is certain is that Hannah's family will spend the next few months cherishing every moment and building memories to sustain them long after she's passed. Our thoughts are with Hannah and her family. Please write and tell me your thoughts on this emotionally charged story.
