Playing for the Cameras?
Nelson questions whether popular movie stars are finding themselves pressured to create a 'publicity manufactured' passion where it may not in fact exist? Gyllenspoon? Who are you favourite couples or would-be dynamic duos?

The Showbiz sites are all fired up (again) to report on the rumoured romance between hot Hollywood singles Jake Gyllenhall and Reese Witherspoon. Does this generate as much of an enormous yawn with any of you as it does with me? I have long contended that their liaison was a publicity manufactured event, fueled by the fact that they were co-starring in a movie together and both free agents in the relationship department. A few snaps of pals going out to dinner together or taking a walk hardly spells the Romance of the Century. At the very most, I have said from the git-go, they are "friends with benefits." Hey, why not? They're both single, consenting adults!

My suspicions of a non-romance seemed to have been confirmed after I saw their new film "Rendition" and interviewed them both. In the movie, they don't share screen time...there is no love story. Off screen, they are so completely different in personality and temperament that it almost impossible to believe that "opposites attract" in this case.

Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie from start to finish. It was compelling and Jake, especially, gives a terrific performance. Throw in supporting players like Academy Award winners Alan Arkin and Meryl Streep and you have a first-rate political thriller.

American movie goers haven't seemed to bite, however, and the film has been deemed a "Flop" by many industry insiders. Almost out of the blue, as soon as it was branded with the Scarlet "F," the would-be "Gyllenspoon" was being photographed everywhere from romantic Rome to bustling Los Angeles International Airport...displaying body language that would make a first year psychology student blush. Reese even cooed to dog-loving talk show host Ellen DeGeneres when asked about Jake that he's "just grrreat!" Is a rumoured romance being rekindled to help generate some box office mojo? It certainly worked for "Mr. and Mrs. Smith!"

In the case of Brangelina, however, that was an undeniable love affair. For "Gyllenspoon," methinks these are two likable, popular movie stars who are finding themselves pressured to create a passion where it may not in fact exist. Kind of like back in school when the Captain of the Football team was just naturally expected to go steady with the Head of the Cheerleading Squad. And in the "Barbie & Ken" doll world of Tinseltown, is anyone really surprised?

Brangelina, thumbs up.

Gyllenspoon, thumbs down.

Your favorite couples or would-be dynamic duos?

Gyllenspoon--hahahahahahahaa! Is there such a thing as "anti-chemistry" because these two have it spades! They might actually tie with Tom and Katie for anti-chemistry...

Brangelina-I agree--thumbs up! I think Heidi and Seal are cute too!

Matthew McC + anyone they've hooked him up with. He has more chemistry with Lance and Jake than any of his "fiancees", like Pro-Bearder Penny Cruz.

Who would make a hot couple? Josh Duhamel and Megan Fox.

I've always thought Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas looked hot together in Desperado. They should've hooked up! Meanwhile, Antonio + Melanie Griffith = stale cigarette butts.
