School for Stars
Which celebs would you enroll in George Clooney school for "toxic" celebrities who "take themselves too seriously??

George Clooney gave a funny interview recently in which he mused that he'd like to start a school for "toxic" celebrities who "take themselves too seriously." Please, George, tell me immediately how I can contribute to the scholarship fund! I think that is a wonderful, long overdue notion and who better to be Dean of Admission than this super-cool, Oscar winning leading man!? I have long contended that even the most down to earth, sane showbiz types ultimately succumb to what my savvy friend Alexandra dubbed "Famous Person's Disease." The constant attention, insincere flattery and inflated perks n' paychecks inevitably work their evil ways on otherwise reasonable individuals and it usually takes career woes, relationship breakups or rehab to snap them out of it. Who would have ever thought Hugh Grant would be throwing baked beans at a photographer? That Tom Cruise would be jumping on couches? That Britney Spears would...well...would become the Britney Spears she is today!? A handful of celebrities manage to find a balance...George, Jodie Foster, Matt Damon, Brendan Fraser, Catherine Zeta Jones, Juliette Moore, Meryl Streep but I think that has more to do with a healthy work ethic & home life than it does caving in to the indulgences of Celebrity. Even "Brangelina," for all their globe-trotting notoriety can keep it real by surrounding themselves with kids and causes. In George's case, he grew up with a famous dad (Nick) and aunt (Rosemary) and witnessed first hand the Do's and Dont's of coping. Jude Law grew up in a theatrical family and managed to survive the Fame Game for years before the frenzied tabloid press managed to get him to cave in. I think one of the secrets to the happy Hollywood marriage of funnyman Ben Stiller and gorgeous Christine Taylor is the example Ben's parents, the comedy team of (Jerry) Stiller & (Anne) Meara, set for him early on.

Frankly, two of our "Hollywood Bad Girls" impressed me this week: Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

Paris' announcement that she is going to Rwanda might be nothing more than a clever photo opp, but better she should show her teenage admirers pictures of herself there with impoverished children than staggering out of a nightclub sans panties. And Lindsay looks like she's going to be staying in rehab longer than expected. I'm hoping that's an indication that the third time is a charm and she can get cleaned up enough to return to work and deliver the caliber of performances her previous work seemed to promise.

Speaking of gorgeous Catherine Zeta Jones...I'm glad to hear she's in negotiations along with Sophia Loren and Penelope Cruz to do Rob Marshall's film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical NINE. Citing examples like Melanie Griffith and Lisa Rinna, not all celebrities should be doing musicals just because they're offered. CZJ is an exemplary exception! I hope it will be as wonderful as their collaboration on CHICAGO. Some of us are old enough to remember Sir Richard Attenborough's unfortunate movie version of A CHORUS LINE which starred her hubby, Michael Douglas.

Which celebs would you enroll in George's Academy??

I would start a Brendon Fraser Academy for film stars...he can show you hot to do comedy, blockbusters and serious drama without taking a fall.

Why does George want to help them(or is he trying to save us from them)? I say leave 'em alone, wait for them to go off the rails and report it in the tabloids just as always. It's a lot more entertaining that way. (I'm reminiscing about Paris sobbing in the sheriff's car as I type this).

I would like to enroll myself! After meeting the entrance requirements, of course: "The constant attention, insincere flattery and inflated perks n' paychecks." Sure beats DeVry...

I know he's not in movies, but Kanye West should be the first student in that school. I wish someone would stick a sock in Kanye's yapper.
Sharon Stone--she always takes herself so seriously.
Russell Crowe and back in the day when he had a career--Val Kilmer.

I agree...definitely Kanye West(this dude looks like he has golf balls in his mouth ala- chipmunk)aswell as Elton John, Naomi Campbell, Victoria Beckham and The Tom(as in Cruise).

Wesley Snipes would have to be the star pupil in that school... the man still thinks he's a vampire from a b-class movie he did EONS ago. John Stamos can join him ('specially after his drunken, drugged stint in Oz recently)
