"You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You" was the fitting opening song for David Campbell at the illustrious Prix de marie claire Awards, presented by MasterCard, on Thursday March 30, 2007.
This was, after all, a night set aside for rewarding fashion and beauty excellence, and Australia's style set turned up in force.
Filling out the industrial space of the '40s-themed night at Sydney's White Bay Studios in glittering black tie were fashion and beauty's biggest players, including design luminaries Carla Zampatti, Collette Dinnigan, Akira Isogawa, Sarah-Jane Clarke of Sass & Bide, Peter Morrissey and many, many more.
Celebrities like Megan Gale, Catriona Rowntree, Terry Biviano and Tom Williams turned plenty of heads on the red carpet, while the formidable It Takes Two star Erika Heynatz wowed the crowd with her spine-tingling duet with David Hobson, accompanied by the Sydney International Orchestra.
Set against a fabulous stage set of a giant city skyline, marie claire publisher/editor Jackie Frank hosted the event, awarding prizes for both fashion and beauty, especially thanking the 5000 readers who voted for the Readers' Choice awards through this website.
marie claire also introduced the prestigious marie claire Prix d'Excellence de la Beaute awards, for the first time in Australia.
Winners included Best Fragrance: Chanel Allure Sensuelle; Best Make-Up Product (Splurge): Lancome Juicy Tubes; Best Australian Fashion Brand (Readers' Choice): Cue; Best Creative Talent: Karen Walker; and Best Australian Designer: Toni Maticevski.
