The Heroic Lost Ninja

I'll have no flashing before my eyes, thank you very much...

Hey, and wtf was that ep all about?! That was awesome! Crazy time-travelling adventures with everyone's favourite Scotsman, Desmond... but did he go back in time properly, or was he in a splintered, alternate reality? Is this the first time this has happened, or is the poor fella stuck in a temporal loop? I wish I could show you my face right now, I bet I look like the late Charlie on Heroes, the top of my skull having popped off trying to get my head around it!

S-s-s-s-secret clue is up!

Hey, you know everyone else on the island? They don't matter this week, and I'm cool with that. I'll summarise everything now - Hurley is a rubbish drunk but loves a good sing-song. Charlie's middle name is Hieronymus, and he sang "Wonderwall" to Desmond in 1996. Pretty funny -

"And maybe, you're gonna be the one to save me....."

Can you say clue? Lost can. Sometimes it screams it! Like, did you notice how much red was in the ep? The red shoes worn by the crushed man was another link to the Wizard of Oz, the scotch bottle was covered in red, Des wore a red shirt AND a red tie plus got K.O.'d while painting with - yep, you guessed it - red paint. I don't know why there was that much red, but you know there must be a reason.

Then we have Ms Hawking, who must be named after A Brief History of Time's Stephen Hawking. I'm calling her The Oracle. Funny that they would have an episode with so many hints about time travel, then an episode involving time travel but hammering home the point that you really can't change anything.

It would seem they wanted us to be aware of the nature of presdestined paradoxes - in other words, Desmond coming to the island led to him pushing the button, which in turn sent him back to the past to prove the importance of the initial decision to back away from Penny and run. But was that decision made on Desmond's own terms the first time, or has this event been running on a loop? He used to follow it and believed he had control over it, but is Desmond now dictating his own destiny, even though he has already fulfilled it?

The painting in Widmore's office was pretty darn interesting too - it had a polar bear, an upside-down Buddha, mountains and Namaste scrawled across the top. It also seemed to have trouble staying in one place in the room... Was that another clue that this isn't reality as we know it?

I really loved this episode, there was so much meat for us theorist to digest. I'm going to have to stew on this one for a little longer, my brain is fried and I need to pull my thoughts together. Why is your brain fried, I hear you ask? Well, this has been one busy, busy week, and I had a particularly late night after Supernova yesterday. Stay tuned for the special stuff I've got coming your way from the night, but here is a slight teaser....

YEP, I MET BILLY DEE WILLIAMS!!! W00T!
*ahem*
Sorry about that, I'm still waaaaay too excited about that. He had some VERY cool stuff to say which you'll see soon enough. And hey, check out my crazy cameraman Chris - he rocks!

I also scored an interview with Doug Jones who will be playing the Silver Surfer in the upcoming Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, as well as Abe Sapien in Hellboy and the Faun and the Pale Man in Pan's Labyrinth. He was one of the nicest guys I've ever met, and I think plenty of you will get a kick out of hearing what he has to say about his short time on Buffy, being paid to pretend to be monsters and a ton of other funny, pretty geeky fare.

My final plug to give today is for myself - if you have Foxtel, you might've seen an ad running for an upcoming Sci Fi channel program, "Who Wants To Be A Superhero?" Check out who is being interviewed as a superhero expert - I am, baby, yeah! Years of comic nerdom finally paying off... ;) I'm working on getting a copy up online for you all to see, just becuase I'm pretty proud of how it came off. Sorry to talk myself up, but when a ninja is on tv without his ninja gear, you have to sit up and pay attention!

Namaste
