You still have work to do, Mike...

Hey there righteous rascal of radness, and OMG what an ep! Action, death, mystery, intrigue and an outing! Seriously, we've not had this much info smacked down on us in a while... So awesome! Michael, Libby, Tom, not a single Waaaaalt... Can't lie though, my favourite moment was finding out Frank is as big a conspiracy nut as all of us!

First things first - this isn't going to be the longest post, as I had that stupid flu shot earlier this week and, guess what? I'm sick as a dog. Yuck. Enough woe is me - secret clue is up!

I'll start with the bad first - what a horrific massacre at the end!

Karl, we hardly knew you... good thing we know Luke Skywalker well, and you were probably as douchey as he was. "I've got a bad feeling about this" - what's that Karl, did you just get hit with the massive Anvil of Foreshadowing? So did I! Look, I'm sorry if me talking like this bothers you, but come on... The dude heard bullets, then saw bullets, then saw the effect said bullets were having and still didn't move? The most action I've seen is on Call of Duty 4; that dude lives on Weirdo Killer Island and I guarantee I would've gotten away.

Rousseau? That's a totally different story. I for one think she isn't dead yet, just because we didn't see an entry/exit wound like the one on Karl. I really, truly hope she isn't dead - just so we can get the rest of her story! I will not be happy until I know what happened to Montand's arm, plain and simple.

The question remains though - who shot them? The smart money would be on Keamy and Omar, the two mercenaries seen mucking about with guns earlier; last episode, Keamy was lining up plans for Frank to take him on and errand. The alternative? We know Ben is one messed up dude - could he have sent Rousseau and Karl, the two people fracturing his relationship with his daughter and - in his eyes - endagering her life, to their deaths? After seeing his childish display over Juliet, I wouldn't put anything past him, not even having his own people kill them, despite his claims that he doesn't kill innocents...

Keeping with the death - how many dead people showed up? Starting with the smaller parts, we got confirmation that Minkowski was, by all accounts, the Uber-Champ Nice Guy on the freighter - I definitely got a Hurley-ish vibe. And hey, Naomi, you were pretty friendly too!

But who was that Michael kept seeing? Libby?! Guilt obviously hangs over his head like a spectre... guess they decided to make it literal. Did you notice though, whenever she appeared, so did the whispers - off the island?! Not sure what's up with that...

The other amazing re-emergence? Everyone's favourite Other, Tom/Mr Friendly/Zeke! I literally got goosebumps when he walked up to Michael in the alley; the very man who spun Michael and Walt's relationship forever out of control now reappearing to offer him redemption. Seems like he could go to and fro from the island like Richard and Ethan... interesting. Shame Sawyer had to shoot him :(

Boy oh boy, did Tom have a lot to share. Let's take a look:

  • The island won't let him kill himself - he "still has work to do"! This would this explain Jack's muttering of "I'm sorry" in the season three finale - if the island still has a purpose for you, it'll keep you in the game, even if it involves crashing a car to force you to man up and be a hero again...
  • Tom has "proof" Widmore is behind the staged crash! Or... does he? Take a closer look at the price tag on the 747 - $450,000. Oooook.... I don't think you can buy a plane for less than half a million dollars. *checks* No, you most certainly can't - a new 747-400 costs $260 million. *sniffs* I smell lies...
  • "Meet Kevin Johnson..." That's a fancy lookin' passport there Tom, only one problem... what happens if he and Dean Moriarty (Ben) share the same passport ID code, HNS012153.
  • Tom likes it luxurious, and so does his "special friend" Arturo... though he's not above making him wait on the balcony.

Two final things to mull over -

  • How did Miles know Michael was lying about his identity? Crazy theory - is Libby hanging around him all the time now and she tipped him off?
  • Why wasn't the Captain, like, flipping out of his brains when he learnt Michael was Ben's spy? He responded like he already knew... or didn't care. What say you, world?

And with that, I'm putting my lame pants back on and going to bed. Rock on, truth soldiers - I love you work.

Namaste
