Needle books have woollen pages as wool is supposed to prevent rust.
Measurements 11 x 8cm
Gather your supplies17 x Item felt rectangle
Small scraps contrast felt
Stranded embroidery cotton
5 buttons
Two 15 x 9cm rectangles wool flannel
30cm x 13mm ribbon
Scissors or hole punch; pins.
Here's howStep 1
Gently round thecorners of the felt rectangle. Work blanket stitch around the edge of the felt, using all 6 strands of thread.
Step 2
Anchor 2 or 3 scraps of contrast felt to the front of the 'book' with a firmly stitched button. You could also use a felt flower shape, if preferred. Stitch remaining buttons to the lower edge of the cover, as desired.
Step 3
Round the corners of the 2 flannel rectangles. Open out the felt cover flat and position the flannel 'pages' evenly on the inside. Along the centre of the pages, use pins to mark 2 ribbon hole positions, about 4cm apart. Using a hole punch or the point of your scissors, make holes in the flannel and the felt, as marked.
Step 4
Thread ribbon through the holes to keep the pages in place and tie the ends ina bow along the 'spine' of the book.
