A man of extraordinary surgical skill, Mike tends to throw people with his seemingly cavalier attitude and "rock ‘n roll" lifestyle. No pristine surgical scrubs for him. He's much more comfortable on rounds in jeans and his old, well-worn cowboy boots and in Theatre he can be identified by the Chelsea Football Club surgical scarf he refuses to operate without.
In his Operating Theatre, Mike prefers loud music and loud talk. He feels that too many surgeons treat Theatre like a library - Mike believes their best work is always done in a place where people are relaxed. The harder the procedure, the more complicated the complications, the louder the music. Women love him, men fear him and Frank Campion hates him. Mike knows it and it amuses the hell out of him.
